WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION



More than 346 million people worldwide have diabetes.
Diabetes is a chronic disease produced by an excessive concentration of glucose in the blood.
Most of the deaths caused by this disease occur in developing countries. Approximately, 3.5 million people died from consequences of high blood sugar.
Diabetes can be prevented by a healthy diet, regular physical activity and avoiding tobacco.

The life expectancy is the average number of years a person is supposed to live.
In Spain, the average life expectancy is 81.2 years, but there are differences between men and women. Women live more years than men.
The life expectancy for women in Spain is 84.4 years while for men is 78.2 years.





Total health expenditure is the sum of public and private health expenditures as a ratio of total population. It covers the provision of health services, family planning activities, nutrition activities, and emergency aid designated for health.
In Spain the total expenditure on health per capita in year 2009 was 3,150 $.
The total expenditure on health was the 9.7 % of Spain’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product).
